Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CertTrail collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit certtrail.com, create an account, enroll in certification exam preparation, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact support. By using CertTrail, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
CertTrail is an independent online certification exam preparation platform. We provide vendor certification study guides, practice exams, and exam-style practice questions. CertTrail is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by any certification vendor or organization.
For privacy questions, email admin@certtrail.com or use the Contact Us page.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use the platform, and limited information from service providers that help us operate CertTrail.
- Account information: name, email address, password, and profile details you submit when you sign up or update your account.
- Sign-in with Google or Microsoft: if you choose social login, we receive the account identifiers those providers share with us, such as your name and email address.
- Enrollment and billing details: exam selections, package choices, and payment status. Card and wallet details are processed by our payment providers, not stored in full by CertTrail.
- Support messages: information you send through the contact form or by email, including your name, email, subject, and message.
- Newsletter subscriptions: the email address you submit to receive certification updates and exam announcements.
- Usage data: pages viewed, exams browsed, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, and similar diagnostic information.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to operate CertTrail and to improve certification exam preparation for our users.
- Create and secure your account, including password reset and email verification.
- Process enrollments, payments, and access to practice exams, question sets, and study materials.
- Respond to support requests about accounts, billing, package access, and exam preparation.
- Send transactional messages related to your account, enrollments, and important service notices.
- Send optional newsletter updates if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Understand how the site is used so we can improve content, performance, and search visibility.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
4. Cookies, local storage, and analytics
CertTrail uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are needed to run the site and to understand how visitors use it.
- Essential storage: items needed to keep you signed in, remember session state, and operate enrollment checkout.
- Newsletter preferences: local storage records whether you subscribed or dismissed the newsletter popup so we do not show it too often.
- Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to measure traffic, popular pages, and site performance. Google may process usage data according to its own privacy policy.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect sign-in, checkout, or other features. Analytics tools may also offer their own opt-out controls.
5. Payments
Paid enrollments are processed by third-party payment providers such as PayPal and Lemon Squeezy. Those providers collect and process payment information under their own terms and privacy policies. CertTrail receives confirmation of payment status, limited transaction identifiers, and the information needed to unlock the exam package you purchased.
We do not store full credit card numbers on CertTrail servers.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to provide the service or as required by law.
- Service providers: hosting, email delivery, newsletter tools (including Mailchimp), analytics, authentication, and payment processors that act on our behalf.
- Sign-in providers: Google or Microsoft if you choose to authenticate with those services.
- Legal and safety: if we believe disclosure is required to comply with law, protect users, or investigate fraud or abuse.
- Business transfers: if CertTrail is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that process.
7. Retention and security
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide enrolled exam access, handle billing questions, resolve disputes, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Support messages and newsletter records are kept only as long as needed for those purposes.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee complete security, so we encourage you to use a unique password and keep your login details private.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to receive a copy of information you provided to us.
- Update account details from your CertTrail dashboard where those controls are available.
- Reset your password from the Forgot Password page.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the unsubscribe option in those emails or by contacting us.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by emailing admin@certtrail.com.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some information may be retained where we have a legal obligation or a legitimate need, such as completed payment records.
9. Children
CertTrail is intended for adult learners preparing for professional IT certifications. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact admin@certtrail.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. International users
CertTrail is used by learners worldwide. If you access the site from outside the country where our systems or service providers operate, your information may be processed in other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own. We take steps appropriate to the service to protect information in line with this policy.
11. Third-party sites and vendor content
CertTrail may link to official vendor sites or other third-party resources to help you prepare for certification exams. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for content or data practices on sites we do not control. Certification vendor names and exam titles are used for identification and educational reference only.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of CertTrail after an update means you accept the revised policy. If a change is material, we will provide a more prominent notice when required.
13. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how CertTrail handles personal information, email admin@certtrail.com or use the Contact Us page.
